At least 22 people were killed and over 20 injured in an explosion in a crowded Dilsukhnagar area in Hyderabad. The blasts took place at the Venkatadri theatre and it is now being reported that the explosives were placed in a Hero Honda bike. The police have already identified the owner of the bike and investigations are underway.
The Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed his dismay at the blasts and it is learnt that the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and his team are monitoring the situation. The Prime Minister and the UPA Chiarperson Sonia Gandhi have also expressed their dismay at the incident. The Home Minister of AP, Sabita Indira Reddy, is set to reach the area of blasts and hospitals housing the injured to express her sympathies and review the situation.
All the injured are being moved to hospitals and Dilshuknagar a number of additional police units are being deployed to move the injured. It is learnt that the DGP Dinesh Reddy and Hyderabad Commissioner Anurag Sharma have made sure the city is on a state of alert and security at a number of places including places of worship is being beefed up.
